Long Hair Will Take You Straight To H*ll:

Hair is styled in many different ways and is often used to indicate important things such as age, religious beliefs, politics, and marital or economic status. Hairstyles may also suggest the sex of a person, and often sends signals of sexuality. While a wide variety of hairstyles are offered today, both women and men are somehow expected to wear their hair in ways that conform to certain gender norms. Some research suggests that when a woman cuts her hair short, it means she is "completely shunning out her sexuality"; therefore, women who grow long hair supposedly encourage sexual interactions, and attract a broader interest from men.

Through photographing two people who physically interact, I create hair sculptures and explore intimate relationships and the blending of lines around identity. Using hair to visually indicate how two people romantically escape into each other, and become engulfed by each others' hair, it is hard to know where one person ends, and where the other begins.
